World Economic Forum to theme Cooperation in a Fragmented World

Davos-Klosters: The World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting is going to start on Monday, the 16th of January, and go until the 20th. It will be having the theme 'Cooperation in a Fragmented World'. The summit is being scheduled at Davos, Switzerland, Asian News International reported.

This year the attendees- experts, academics, investors, and political and business leaders- are expected to discuss various pressing global matters, including the Ukraine war, global inflation, climate change etc., along with promotive and innovative solutions.

The world leaders who are to attend the summit include European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, South Africa President Cyril M Ramaphosa, Spain Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol, Swiss President Alain Berset, and Finland Prime Minister Sanna Marin.

Representing India, Union ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw (Minister for Railways), Mansukh Mandaviya (health minister), Smriti Irani (minister of women and child development), and RK Singh are expected to be in Davos. Also, chief ministers of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh, Eknath Shinde, Basavaraj Bommai and Yogi Adityanath, were also expected.

Other Indians who are expected to participate in the summit include Natarajan Chandrasekaran, chairman of Tata Sons India, Rajesh Gopinath, chief executive officer and managing director, Tata Consultancy Services, CP Gurnani, CEO and MD, Tech Mahindra, Rishad Premji, executive chairman, Wipro, Byju Raveendran, founder and CEO, Byju's, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, founder and CEO, Paytm, Adar Poonawalla, CEO, Serum Institute of India, and Dinesh Kumar Khara, chairman.

WEF founder and Executive Chairman Klus Schwab said in a statement that there are manifold political, economic and social forces that cause increased fragmentation on a global and national level. To address the main cause of this erosion of trust, the cooperation between government and business structures must be reinforced. Thus conditions for a strong recovery must be created.

He also said that there must be a recognition that economic development requires to be more resilient, more sustainable, and nobody should be left behind.
