Woman rescued from ruins in Gaza gives birth to baby girl: report
text_fieldsTel Aviv: In the midst of war and devastation, a baby was delivered by emergency caesarian in Gaza Strip.
Earlier this week, pregnant woman Navine Abu Owdah, 30, was rescued from under the rubble of what was once her home, The Metro News reported.
She was bleeding abdominally from injuries after Israel bombed her home.
She was taken to a hospital in Khan Younis, Southern Gaza to where Palestinians are fleeing fearing Israel’s ground offensive.
Doctors quickly carried out a C-section and managed to deliver a 'healthy' baby girl.
Dr Salim Saqer, the head of surgery at Nasser Hospital, reportedly said: ‘A caesarean section was performed in the emergency department, and her baby girl, who is in good condition, was delivered.’
Baby’s mother Owdah is under observation and getting care for her injuries.
Israel’s continuing offensive in Gaza in response to Hamas attack has caused widespread casualties.
The war has affected the supply of essentials including food, water, and fuel in Gaza.
Many pregnant women, according to The Metro News, are struggling to decide on how ‘protect themselves and their children and where to give birth as the healthcare system collapses.’
Reports say that region’s health system has nearly collapsed in the continuing bombardment.
