New York: US President Joe Biden has again become a laughing stock this week after he gaffed about building a railroad from the Pacific Ocean ‘across’ the Indian Ocean.

The 80-year-old President was speaking at the League of Conservation Voters Annual Capital Dinner on Wednesday, when he announced a railroad to India, which quickly started circulating on social media.

The president’s critics seized on it to deride him on social media with Missouri senator Josh Hawley’s press secretary Abigail Marone saying ‘Put grandpa to bed’.

The transcript of Biden’s speech from the White House website said: ‘We have plans to build a railroad from the Pacific all the way across the Indian Ocean. We have plans to build in - in Angola one of the largest solar plants in the world. I can go on, but I'm not. I'm going off-script. I'm going to get in trouble.’

When Biden made the announcement, some of the audience members could not hold back laugher.

Responding to the footage, GOP consultant Matt Whitlock tweeted ‘that is going to be a heck of a railroad’.

Another user tweeted ‘Can't wait to take a train to India for my next business trip! Should be great’.

Joe Biden earlier made a bigger mistake during his speech to Canadian Parliament praising China where he should have lauded Canada.

‘Today, I applaud China for stepping up,’ he said before correcting himself ‘Excuse me, I applaud Canada... You can tell what I'm thinking - about China. I won't get into that yet.’
