Washington: The US and Israel are planning a bombing campaign targeting energy infrastructure in Iran, with strikes potentially taking place throughout the weekend, CBS News reported on Friday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

US President Donald Trump has yet to give final approval for the strikes, according to the sources cited by CBS.

The planned campaign would be among the harshest attacks yet on Iranian energy infrastructure during the ongoing US-Israeli war against Iran, CBS reported. Discussions have also taken place about completing the strikes before financial markets open on Monday.
