US Army destroyed equipment worth '100s of Millions' in Kabul: Taliban

The Taliban reportedly said that the US personnel destroyed and burned all the military equipment, vehicles, and documents worth hundreds of millions of dollars, reports TOLO news. On Monday, Taliban opened the doors to the former largest operational centre of the USA's Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in Kabul.
Taliban forces stationed at the camp while reacting to media said that they have not entered some rooms as they fear mines. US soldiers reportedly destroyed military hardware and helicopters also at the Kabul airport before leaving.
The centre, named "Eagle," is located in Kabul's Deh Sab area and is reportedly where US intelligence officers and Afghan NDS 01 forces were stationed. Now the camp is under the control of the Taliban.
According to the Taliban, US soldiers destroyed important documents and hundreds of Humvees, armoured tanks and weapons. The Taliban also said they do not know the exact value of the destroyed equipment, but
"They have destroyed anything that could have been used," Mawlawi Athnain, the commander of the camp quoted as saying.
Masab, a Taliban fighter who is now guarding the camp, said he was jailed at the camp for eight days in the past. "I was arrested and I was here for eight nights. It was terrible," he said.
Earlier, on August 31, Agence France-Presse had reported that the United States military disabled all their aircraft, armoured vehicles and defence systems they left at Kabul airport before leaving the country
The report said General Kenneth McKenzie, Central Command head saying that 73 aircraft at Hamid Karzai International Airport were demilitarised or rendered useless before the evacuation process was wrapped up.
No one from now on can operate those, he reportedly said.
McKenzie added that the military decided to keep them operational until the very last minute. Breaking down those systems was a time-consuming, complex procedure, which made them demilitarise it never to be used again.
He also added that the Pentagon left behind almost 70 MRAP armoured tactical vehicles, each could cost 1 million US Dollars, and 27 Humvees, but were disabled.
