The 87-year-old, known for his empathy and compassionate approach in the courtroom, disclosed the news in an Instagram video.

Caprio expressed that his diagnosis came as a shock around his birthday last month, a day that usually brings him immense joy. Fighting back tears, he explained that he is currently undergoing treatment with a team of dedicated doctors in Rhode Island and at the renowned Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts.

"This birthday is a little different than any other I have ever had," Caprio shared. "I know this is a long road, and I'm fully prepared to fight as hard as I can," he added, his trademark resilience shining through.

Asking for support from his vast community, the judge requested prayers, stating, "I am in need of the power of prayer, which I believe, in addition to the medical treatment that I'm receiving, is the most powerful weapon to help me survive this."

Acknowledging the outpouring of love and well-wishes from fans, Caprio expressed gratitude, noting that the support "means the world to me" as he prepares for the challenging battle against cancer.

In a caption accompanying the video, he urged his followers to "SAY A PRAYER," emphasizing the strength that collective prayers could bring to his health battle.
