Trump says 'Big insult' to America if Nobel Peace Prize not awarded to him

US President Donald Trump said it would be a big insult to the United States if he were not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, after claiming credit for ending seven international conflicts and moving to resolve the Gaza crisis.
Speaking to military leaders in Quantico on Tuesday, he pointed to his newly announced Gaza peace plan, remarking that the framework seemed to be in place. He noted that while Hamas still had to agree, Israel and numerous Arab and Muslim nations had already backed the proposal, which he described as an extraordinary achievement that had come together unexpectedly.
Trump stated that if the Gaza plan succeeded, it would mark the eighth conflict he had helped bring to an end in a matter of months. He argued that no one else had accomplished such a record and described the feat as remarkable, TNIE reported.
At the same time, he expressed doubt that the Nobel Committee would recognise his efforts, predicting instead that the prize might go to a writer or commentator rather than someone directly involved in conflict resolution.
He insisted, however, that he was not seeking the honour for himself, but rather for the country, saying the United States deserved recognition for achievements of such scale. If the Gaza plan were to succeed, he added, it would represent something unprecedented.
Trump also underlined his long-standing experience in dealmaking, suggesting that it gave him unique insight into conflict resolution. He said being responsible for eight peace initiatives was a significant honour in itself.
