Trump appoints two Indian Americans as special assistants

New York: President Donald Trump has appointed two Indian Americans as special assistants to handle national security and personnel matters.
Ricky Gill has been appointed as the Senior Director for South and Central Asian Affairs at the National Security Council (NSC), where he will focus on matters related to India. Gill has an extensive background, having previously served in the Trump administration as Director for Russia and European Energy Security at the NSC, as well as Senior Advisor at the State Department’s Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations. After leaving the NSC, Gill founded Gill Capital Group, where he served as Principal and General Counsel. He also advised on European and Asian energy issues at TC Energy, the company behind the Keystone XL Pipeline, which Trump had approved but Biden later banned.
Gill, born in Lodi, New Jersey, to Jasbir and Param Gill, holds a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and a law degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Following a report by Politico, he confirmed his appointment on LinkedIn.
Saurabh Sharma, born in Bengaluru, has been appointed to the Presidential Personnel office. A conservative activist, Sharma co-founded and served as president of American Moment, an organization focused on identifying, educating, and credentialing young Americans. He has also served as state chairman of the Young Conservatives of Texas and worked as a journalist for the conservative publication Daily Caller. Sharma holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Texas. His appointment was reported by Politico and confirmed on American Moment’s website.
Both appointments highlight the growing influence of Indian Americans in high-profile roles in the U.S. government.
