Colombo: As Sri Lanka is still wallowing up in crisis, India continues to help the island nation.

The latest of the helps include PM Modi's offer of supplying fertilisers for Sri Lanka's on going farming season, according to IANS.

Rajapaksa on Wednesday said the fertiliser would be supplied with Indian loan assistance.

During a discussion on the crisis in farming sector held in Colombo, Rajapaksa announced the decision.

The fertiliser would be made available during the nation's one of two farming seasons, Yala which occurs between May and August.

Sri Lanka marked nearly 30 to 40 percent drop in yield in March and April.

Experts blamed the drop in agriculture produce on the government's overnight ban on fertilisers on April 27, 2020.

President Rajapaksa later reversed the decision admitting that the ban on fertiliser was a mistake.

His belated admission of the mistake didn't help the nation in the least.

Sri Lank began to see itself in severe crisis, after its foreign reserves depleted, alongside a crippling fuel shortage further stressed the nation

Food shortage and lack of essential commodities had driven people to the streets, which led to chaos weeks before.
