New York: As the hunt for the masked man who shot dead UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson entered the second day, the New York Police Department released new photos of the suspect showing his face in hoodie.

Alongside, there emerged potential leads about his travels before committing the crime and also the message scrawled on the ammunition found at the site gave some insights.

The words ‘deny’ ‘defend’ and ‘depose’ written in permanent marker point to phrases used by industry critics to highlight the ploys of insurance companies.

The words echo the book title Delay, Deny, Defend which highlight the tactic allegedly used by insurance companies to deny claims, according to Bloomberg.

The words on the shell case reportedly suggest a potential motive behind murder, stemming from anger against the insurance company.

New agency AP reported citing a law enforcement official that investigators believed the suspect may have traveled to New York last month on a bus from Atlanta.

Meanwhile, police offered $10,000 for tips appealing the public to help identifying the suspect, Bloomberg reported.

The report further added that police executed a search warrant on the HI New York City youth hostel on Manhattan's Upper West Side where the suspect checked into using a fake New Jersey driver's license, staying there since Nov. 30.

Despite efforts, the hunt for the man has not yet yielded any breakthrough about his whereabouts.

Meanwhile, a cellphone discovered at the site turned out to be a burner phone, which allows users to have an anonymous phone number and can be thrown away.

Thompson, 50, was shot in the back and leg Wednesday morning outside New York Hilton Midtown hotel.

Footage from the site showed the attacker waiting for the insurance chief and approaching the executive upon his arrival and shot him multiple times.

The attacker left the scene by foot, before riding on an electric bike heading toward Central Park.
