Washington: Donald Trump, a former US president, has discussed his wife Melania's absence during his 2024 campaign. She was recently seen with her son Barron Trump at Mar-a-Lago on Easter Sunday, where the whole family had gathered for breakfast. She has not, however, attended any of the former US President's campaign rallies or court cases.

Their last election-related activity together, according to an Independent report, was her husband casting a ballot in the Florida primary in February. She responded with "Stay tuned" when asked if she would be campaigning alongside him in the elections scheduled for November 2024.

During her husband's 2016 and 2020 campaign trips, Mrs Trump often stayed at home. In a 2015 interview with 20/20, she made it clear that she wanted to be there for Barron, who was nine at the time. She did not move out of the New York penthouse until June 2017, even after Mr. Trump's victory in 2016, NDTV reported.

Regarding her absence from the festivities, the 45th President of the United States stated that Melania Trump would make her comeback when the time was right. "She's a private person, a great person, a very confident person, and she loves our country very much. She'll be - at the appropriate time - she'll be out there," Mr Trump said during an interview with Meet the Press in September. Notably, Mr Trump also said that his wife "doesn't need to be out there".

Additionally, Mr. Trump had implied that he had decided to keep Melania out of the spotlight while running for office. He said he wanted to "keep her away" from the campaign. "It's so nasty and so mean," he said.

A close aide to the first lady revealed to CNN in late March that Mrs. Trump makes her own decisions about when and how to attend political events. However, it appears that as the election draws nearer, her profile will increase. In addition, on Saturday in West Palm Beach, she and her husband will be hosting a fundraiser. She will also be there when the Log Cabin Republicans host an event at Mar-a-Lago on April 20.

"Missing" posters were uploaded online around the time of the Iowa caucuses due to her absence.
