Beijing: A Chinese mother from the central Chinese province of Henan takes her 38-year-old son to a psychiatrist for not bringing home a girl.

The worried mother has been dragging him to hospital every Lunar New Year since 2020 when he fails to marry, South China Morning Post reports.

The man, surnamed Wang, recently narrated his situation in a viral video, sparking a debate about the social pressure on Chinese youth to marry earlier.

Wang says that his mother believes “he has something wrong in the head” as he never brought home a girlfriend on Lunar New Year.

This time when she took him to the hospital on February 4, the psychiatrist told the mother that she had the problem, not her son.

The doctor concluded that Wang's mother developed the mental disorder of ''forcing her son to marry.''

Wang, who is a tennis coach, said he is known in the hometown by the name "super old single man".

He used to submit his mother’s fascination for mental hospital only to pleasure her.

"I should not be identified as an unmarried person. I am just very busy and haven't met the right person. My mum can't sleep because I don't get married, so I feel quite upset," Wang reportedly said.

Hinting at his reason for not marrying Wang said he had not saved up enough for a down payment of a home in Beijing.

"Who would want to marry me?'' he asked.
