text_fieldsAt the most recent annual banquet of a firm, a Chinese man received 365 paid vacation days. Due to his victory in the grand prize, the man is now the target of envy in China. The dinner for the unknown corporation reportedly took place in Shenzhen, Guangdong, according to the Straits Times.
An image of a man sitting on a chair with a woman and child nearby and holding a large check that reads "365 days of paid leaves" is going viral on Chinese social media.
According to the Straits Times, a corporate representative can be heard in the video claiming that the recipient constantly asked if the prize was real, NDTV reported.
The reward "stunned" the boss.
The company's annual dinner was held after three years due to the pandemic, the media portal said. This time, a lucky draw was arranged to help employees decompress from their workload and raise morale.
Prizes in the raffle included a day or two of additional paid time off, while the penalties included tasks like waiting tables.
The employer will discuss with the winner whether he would choose to take advantage of his paid leave or encash it, according to an administrative worker at the company who went by the name Ms. Chen.
Chinese social media users were envious of the award, and some even enquired about job openings at the organisation. Others talked about the practicality of the award.
One user of the Chinese sister app of TikTok, Douyin, commented: "Dare he accept the prize? After a year, he might return to find someone else in his role."
