British teen missing for six years found in France, ‘want to come home’
text_fieldsLondon: Alex Batty from Oldham, UK was 11 years old when he disappeared 6 years ago.
He now reached out to his grandma in UK using a motorist’s phone, saying he is in Toulouse in France.
He wrote: ‘Hello Grandma, it's me Alex. I'm in France Toulouse. I really hope that you receive this message. I love you, I want to come home.’
Alex will be back home within hours, BBC reported citing the prosecutors' office in the city.
Delivery driver Fabien Accidini saw Alex walking a road in the foothills of the Pyrenees in the early hours of Wednesday morning, BBC reported.
The area is known for people pursuing alternative lifestyles and it is not known how Alex ended up there.
Still more, it is not known where exactly he had been living in area.
Alex’s grandmother Susan Caruana reportedly said in 2018 that Alex’s mother Melanie Batty and grandfather David Batty had taken him to a spiritual community in Morocco.
They, according to grandma, were seeking to live an alternative lifestyle without sending Alex to school.
Alex’s mother and grandfather left Greater Manchester with Alex for a holiday to Marbella in Spain on 30 September 2017.
The boy went missing on 8 October that year, the day they were expected to return to UK.
Motorist Fabien Accidini said that ‘he had been walking for four days and that he set off from a place in the mountains, though he didn't say where.’
The delivery driver looked up online to get details of Alex and found him as missing.
‘I typed his name into the internet and saw that he was being looked for,’ he was quoted as saying.
Alex reached out to his grandma using Accidini’s Facebook account.
