Beijing: China reported another wave of new covid cases on Sunday with the national capital recording 840 locally transmitted cases and 3,048 asymptomatic cases.

The fresh outbreak comes amid long drawn lockdowns implemented in several cities across the nation, giving rise to massive protests the other day.

Showing increase in cases, Shanghai reported 16 new domestically transmitted symptomatic coronavirus, which is up from 11 a day earlier.

The data for local asymptomatic cases were put at 128, which is up from 119 the previous day.

Overall the nation has been reporting record fresh cases in the last couple of days.

On November 26, the total cases nationally stood at 39,791 including 3,709 symptomatic cases, while 36,082 asymptomatic.

It seems a lot of people in China are more concerned about the nation's ongoing Zero-covid policy than the covid as they are weary of staying indoors for too long.

Hundreds of people have filled the streets of Beijing and Shanghai on Sunday protesting against China's zero-Covid policy.

Tired of the Zero covid policy, which meant lengthy quarantines, snap lockdowns, mass testing drives, and constant vigil by authorities, people continue to come out protesting.

On Thursday protests broke out in Urumqi, the capital of northwest China's Xinjiang, after a fire claimed at least 10 lives with many complaining that covid restrictions hampered rescue operations.

In Shanghai police clashed with protesters who chanted "Xi Jinping , step down, CCP, step down".
