New Delhi: The world's shortest man today is an Iranian who measures just 65.24 cm (2 feet 1.6 inches).

Afshin Esmaeil Ghaderzadeh, 20, beats the previous record holder Edward 'Niño' Hernandez by 7 centimetres.

Hernandez from Colombia measured 70.21 cm, according to The Indian Express.

Born on July 13, 2002, Ghaderzadeh was discovered in 'West Azerbaijan Province village' in Bukan County, Iran.

Ghaderzadeh left home for the first time to fly to Dubai for verification at the Guinness World Records office.

His measurement was taken three times over in 24 hours and Guinness World Records shared it on the Website.

In Dubai, he visited Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, and afterwards had a quick shave and trim.

A tailor got his suit, which was made for a 2-3-year-old child, altered.

People wished him good health and long life on YouTube after a video about him appeared.

"Congratulations, wish him a healthy and happy life," a user said while another demanded that "We should get another photo with the shortest and the tallest people together".

Ghaderzadeh can speak both Kurdish and Persian, using the Farsi dialect.

At birth, he had a body weight of 700 g (1.5 lb), which has now touched almost 6.5 kg (14.3 lb).

Ghaderzadeh is an expert in using a smartphone, despite having difficulty carrying it around.

The man said phones, in general, are heavy to use for a long time but he could still manage them.

His parents struggle to provide him with enough for expenses, medication and treatment and the family lives in a modest home.
