Google appears to be working on a new AI feature for its chatbot Gemini, aimed at offering users more control over the content it generates.

According to a report from Android Authority, evidence of this upcoming feature, named "Content filters," was discovered in the beta version of the Google app for Android (version 15.51.24.sa.arm64).

However, the feature is not yet publicly available or active, leaving its functionality largely speculative.

The feature, reportedly found within the Gemini Settings page, is positioned between "Screen context" and "Manage your Advanced subscription." A brief description under the feature states, “Use filters to control the responses you see,” suggesting it may allow users to moderate the chatbot's output.

Currently, the feature is inactive and redirects users to a placeholder URL on Google’s Gemini website, which provides no additional information.

Google has not officially confirmed the specifics of the feature, but its purpose might be to provide users with the ability to filter harmful or unwanted content.

Potential applications could include content moderation, allowing users to block certain types of responses similar to parental controls; blacklist functionality, enabling users to ban specific topics or websites; and personalization, tailoring responses based on preferred writing styles or tones.

Although such possibilities are intriguing, they remain speculative until further announcements are made by Google.

As AI chatbots become increasingly integrated into daily life, ensuring they produce appropriate and relevant content is crucial. A content filter tool could enhance user experience by offering granular control over the chatbot's responses, making interactions safer and more personalized.
