Apple has introduced a web app for Apple Podcasts, now accessible on desktop browsers including Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

This new feature extends the availability of Apple Podcasts beyond macOS, allowing users on Windows-based desktops to enjoy their favorite podcasts.

Previously, the desktop experience was limited to macOS users.

The release of the Apple Podcasts web app follows the recent introduction of the Maps web app in beta, which allows users to access directions, routes, and business listings directly from their web browsers on smartphones and desktops.

The Apple Podcasts web app can be accessed through the URL podcasts.apple.com and offers the same functionalities as the native Podcasts app found on Apple devices. Users can explore a wide range of podcasts across genres like true crime, news, and comedy, listen to content in multiple languages, and browse top charts.

The web app is compatible with Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox on both Macs and PCs.

Key features of the web app include the ability to sign in with an Apple ID to sync listening progress across devices, access to the Up Next queue, a list of saved shows, and the entire podcast catalogue.

Users can also manage their subscriptions to paid podcasts directly through the web app.

The interface includes tabs such as Home, Browse, and Top Charts, with a search bar on the left panel and media controls for play/pause located at the top. Additionally, users can select their region to view content tailored to their location.

One convenient feature of the web app is its seamless integration with Apple devices, allowing users to start listening to a podcast on their iPhone or iPad and continue on their Windows desktop. However, users who visit the Apple Podcasts website with the app already installed on their iPhone, iPad, or Mac will be redirected to the native app instead of the web version.
