Airtel’s AI fraud detection system shields 3.5 million users in Delhi-NCR
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Bharti Airtel on Thursday announced that its recently launched AI-powered fraud detection system has successfully protected over 3.5 million users in the Delhi-NCR region from the growing threat of online scams.
Implemented nationwide just 43 days ago, the advanced system has already blocked more than 188,000 malicious links and safeguarded 106 million users across India, the company revealed.
The cutting-edge system is automatically enabled for all Airtel mobile and broadband customers. It continuously scans links shared across platforms such as SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, email, and other web browsers. Leveraging real-time threat intelligence, the technology analyses more than one billion URLs daily and blocks harmful content in less than 100 milliseconds.
“At Airtel, we are dedicated to protecting our customers from various types of fraud. By incorporating our network with an AI-driven fraud detection solution, we guarantee that our customers are protected from all new threats without requiring any action on their part,” said Nidhi Lauria, CEO – Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh (West), Bharti Airtel.
She added, “We consider it crucial to act now to secure the digital environment of tomorrow, and we take pride in being at the forefront of this initiative by providing a safer and more comprehensive network for our customers in Delhi-NCR.”
As one of India’s most digitally advanced regions, Delhi-NCR has also become a prime target for fraudsters, who increasingly exploit phishing links, fake delivery notifications, and deceptive banking alerts to mislead users.
Airtel’s system can detect suspicious links within messages and immediately block access, serving as a digital shield that protects a broad spectrum of users, including families, senior citizens, homemakers, students, and new smartphone users.
In addition, the platform issues fraud alerts in the user’s preferred language, including Hindi, enhancing its effectiveness among India’s diverse population. The entire solution operates silently in the background, requires no installation, and is provided to customers completely free of charge, the company confirmed.
