Brazilian football legend Pele's health has deteriorated over the past few days. He is no longer responding to chemotherapy and was moved to palliative care.

He has been suffering from bowel cancer since 2021. After the hospital re-evaluated his cancer treatment, they diagnosed him with a lung infection, reported Folha de S. Paulo.

Pele's daughter said there is no emergency situation. Earlier media reports from Brazil also claimed that he was responding to antibiotic treatment and he is in a stable condition with a general improvement in health status. The 82-year-old is being treated for symptoms like pain and shortness of breath.

The iconic player took to Instagram to confirm that he is at the hospital for a monthly visit and wrote: "Friends, I am at the hospital making my monthly visit. It's always nice to receive positive messages like this. Thanks to Qatar for this tribute, and to everyone who sends me good vibes!"

His daughter also said: "Friends, I am at the hospital making my monthly visit. It's always nice to receive positive messages like this. Thanks to Qatar for this tribute, and to everyone who sends me good vibes!"
