Doha: Morocco made their third victory in the FIFA World Cup football history through a stunning coup.

After defeating the second-ranked and third-placed in the last edition of the world ranking, Belgium 2-0, Morocco has taken first place in Group F with four points from two games.

Belgium sweated a lot in front of Morocco's red fans throughout the match after their adversaries served hard challenges at Al Thumama Stadium.

Meanwhile, Costa Rica bounced back from a heartbreaking loss in its first game to beat a packed Japan, who beat Germany in its first match, 1-0 in Group E.

Moroccans, who did not falter against the big players, scored the first goal in the 73rd minute through substitute Abdelhamid Sabiri. Fans witnessed Qatar's third World Cup upset when another substitute, Zakaria Aboukhlal, scored in the 92nd minute of injury time.

Sabiri scored a free kick from the corner of the box, hoodwinking the world-class goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Morocco effectively blocked attempts to retaliate. The North African team showed the weakness of Belgium's defence on several occasions.

Belgium's defeat was complete when Zakaria scored from Hakim Ziyech's cross. After 24 years, Morocco won a match in the World Cup.

Costa Rica found relief from the big defeat against Spain by scoring the only shot on the post against Japan, which was filled to capacity at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium. Keysher Fuller scored the goal in the 81st minute for Costa Rica.
