Rant against Gambhir: Sreesanth gets legal notice from Legends League Cricket
text_fieldsThe Legends League Cricket (LLC) has issued a legal notice to former Indian pacer S Sreesanth following his on-field altercation with Gautam Gambhir during an Eliminator match between Indian Capitals and Gujarat Giants in the ongoing LCC 2023 tournament.
The heated exchange between Gambhir and Sreesanth during the LLC Season 2 Eliminator match at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium on Wednesday captured the attention of cricket enthusiasts. Umpires had to intervene to maintain order on the field as emotions ran high between the two former India teammates.
The controversy escalated when Sreesanth took to Instagram the next morning, accusing Gambhir of using offensive language and labelling him as a 'fixer' about the 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL) spot-fixing scandal.
The Instagram live session fueled the fire, prompting the LLC commissioner to serve Sreesanth with a legal notice for breaching his contract within the T20 tournament.
According to an India Today report talks with Sreesanth will only be initiated if he removes the videos criticizing Gambhir within the league's preview. The LLC emphasized that the incident violated the league's Code of Conduct and Ethics Committee rules and announced an internal investigation.
In an official statement released on Thursday, the LLC stated, "The incident that has been the talk of the cricketing world violates the code of conduct, and necessary action will be taken against all that have violated the very clear rules stated by the league’s Code of Conduct & Ethics Committee."
Despite the controversy, the LLC expressed its commitment to focusing on the league and allowing the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ASCU) and the Code of Conduct & Ethics Committee to handle the internal investigation. The league aims to maintain its focus on the exciting season, where national and international cricket legends play together for their respective teams.
