Barcelona blotted out as Bayern Munich storms into semis

Lisbon: Incompetent, ineffective, ineptitude.. Social media were flooded with negative adjectives as Barcelona dealt a humiliating defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich.

The Spanish champions conceded eight goals to crash out from the UEFA campaign while an own goal donated by Jordi Alba and one by Suarez did not help them for a comeback throughout the match.

Barca fans are a little relieved that if Bayern was more sharper and their defending better, the defeat could have been worse.

Bayern Munich will face Manchester City or Lyon in semi-finals.

Bayern took an early lead through Thomas Muller but conceded within the seventh minute through the own goal.

However, Ivan Perisic, Serge Gnabry and Muller pipped the Catalan club by 4-1 by the 31st minure.

Luis Suarez goal in the second half helped Barca only to cut the deficit a bit.

However, Joshua Kimmich, Robert Lewandowski and Philippe Coutinho added to the wounds of the devastated Spanish team.

Coutinho, who is in Bayern for a loan from Barca, obliterated his own club, scoring twice towards the end of the match.
