Nisshin: India won the toss and elected to bat first against Bangladesh in the women’s cricket semifinal of the Asian Games at Korogi Sports Park here on Sunday, fielding an unchanged XI from their quarterfinal win over Japan.

Harmanpreet Kaur’s side, the defending champions and favourites, are seeking a second straight Asiad final appearance after brushing aside hosts Japan by eight wickets in the quarterfinal. Bangladesh, meanwhile, are playing their first match of the tournament in Nisshin after their quarterfinal against China was washed out and they advanced as the higher-ranked team.

The Women in Blue, fresh from clinching their eighth Asia Cup title earlier this month, have a strong record against Bangladesh, who have beaten them only three times in 25 meetings. The two sides also met in the Asia Cup semifinal in Dubai, where India emerged victorious.
