Asian Games Day 12: India eyes medals in archery, boxing, and wrestling

India will have medal opportunities in archery, shooting, cycling, canoe slalom, wrestling, boxing, judo and sport climbing on Day 12 of the 2026 Asian Games on Wednesday, September 30.
Indian teams will also compete in hockey, squash, sepak takraw and esports.
Golf will make its Asian Games debut for India, with Veer Ahlawat, Saptak Talwar and Yuvraj Sandhu competing in the men’s opening round. Aditi Ashok, Diksha Dagar and Pranavi Sharath Urs will feature in the women’s event.
Archery will provide some of the earliest medal opportunities.
India’s women’s compound team of Chikitha Taniparthi, Prithika Pradeep and Jyothi Surekha Vennam will face South Korea in the semifinal at 5:55 am. Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Rajesh Jadhav will compete in the mixed-team semifinal against Thailand at 7:55 am, while the men’s compound team of Kushal Dalal, Sahil Rajesh Jadhav and Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru will face South Korea at 10:55 am.
Six Indian boxers will compete in the semifinals from 9:30 am onwards. Jadumani Singh, Sumit Kundu, Sakshi Chaudhary, Kapil Pokhariya, Priya Ghanghas and Lovlina Borgohain are assured of at least bronze medals.
Wrestling will begin India’s campaign with Nisha in the women’s 68kg and Sunil Kumar in the men’s Greco-Roman 87kg.
The women’s hockey team will face South Korea in the semifinal at 3:30 pm. Joga Purty will compete in women’s speed climbing from 4:36 pm.
India will also face Singapore and Kuwait in squash, Hong Kong, China, South Korea and Chinese Taipei in League of Legends, and Vietnam, Laos and the Philippines in sepak takraw. Shooting, cycling, canoe slalom and sailing will feature Indian competitors throughout the morning.
