The scientists searching for an Earth-like place in the universe are now fussing over a new planet.

Astronomers discovered the planet LP 890-9 c while observing another planet LP 890-9 b in the system revolving around a dwarf star.

The most interesting aspect of the planet is it is in the habitable zone of the dwarf star.

The surface of the planet LP 890-9 c is likely to be rocky, astronomers believe which is yet to be proved.

It has a sister planet, which is also a super-Earth whose surface conditions also escape the understanding of the astronomers, requiring more study.

"Both planets orbit a comparatively cool, red-dwarf star, LP 890-9, about 98 light-years away. The inner planet, discovered using the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS), is about 30 per cent larger than Earth and, with an estimated temperature of 123 Celsius, which is too hot to be habitable," Nasa was quoted saying in a statement.

A ground-based telescope survey led to the discovery not only of the existence of the innermost planet but finding of second planet in the system, according to reports.

Explaining further NASA said "Plenty of caveats come with the temperature estimates. The planets' actual temperatures depend on their atmospheres, about which nothing is yet known. It's possible that the outermost planet's atmosphere has given rise to a runaway greenhouse effect, which would make it more like Venus than Earth – much too hot for habitability."

The researchers said that discovery could lead to potential atmospheric studies.
