APCR to support Assamese left-out of citizen register
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The Assam chapter of Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) is spearheading moves under aegis of Vision2026 project to help restore Indian citizens who have been left out of the draft national citizen register.
As and when the reasons for excluding from register are informed by NRC help centres, the human rights organization would visit homes of illiterate villages to offer them legal support.
The meeting of APCR held at Guwahati and Barak Valley decided to chalk out final road map, said APSR general secretary, T. Arif Ali. The two-month-long mission would focus on 230 backward villages.
Volunteers for this would be recruited from Assam itself. Following this, villagers would be given training as regards the citizen register.
Full-time volunteers would be at the help of the villagers. They would visit houses of those who have been left out of the register and would present report of their public interaction.
