New Delhi: The chairman of 15th Finance Commission N K Singh today assured that each state will be individually assessed keeping in view their special characteristics, an official release said.

Singh gave this assurance during his interaction with a delegation led by Tamil Nadu's Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister O Panneerselvam.

"A progressive state like Tamil Nadu which has contributed greatly to India's prosperity would certainly receive the Commission's careful consideration," he said as per the release.

Commission's visit for Tamil Nadu has been finalised for end of September.

The over 40-member delegation submitted a memorandum to the Commission and put forward their viewpoints regarding the Terms of Reference (TOR) of the Commission.

Panneerselvam stressed on balancing the need for fiscal transfers to less developed states with the growing aspirations of better performing states and expectations of the people of the better performing states.
