The United Arab Emirates is ready for extensive fireworks displays and light shows across several emirates as residents and visitors prepare to welcome the new year on December 31.

Dubai

In Dubai, authorities have approved a plan for 48 fireworks displays at 40 locations citywide, covering key landmarks and popular areas.

The shows will take place at sites including Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Creek Harbour and Bluewaters, offering multiple viewing options outside the traditional downtown centre.

Organisers say detailed crowd and traffic management plans, including road closures and extended metro services, are in place to support the festivities.

Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi will host its own large-scale celebrations with fireworks and drone light formations, including a record-length show expected to run for more than an hour at Al Wathba as part of the city’s annual New Year events. Corniche waterfront zones and Yas Island areas are also lined up as major viewing points for spectators.

Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah plans to present another notable celebration featuring extended fireworks displays over Al Marjan Island and Al Hamra Bay, continuing its reputation for extensive pyrotechnic shows.

Sharjah

Sharjah and other northern emirates will offer family-friendly fireworks at waterfront locations such as Al Majaz Waterfront and Khorfakkan Beach, giving residents scenic alternatives to the larger city centre events.

Officials have urged early arrival at major viewing areas due to expected crowds and recommended the use of public transport where possible. The celebrations are part of wider year-end activities across the UAE and coincide with planning to support smooth travel and safety measures throughout the evening.
