The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has urged citizens and residents to stay alert to fraudulent phone calls made from unknown numbers. In a post on X on Friday, the ministry said some callers falsely claim to be from official bodies to obtain personal or confidential information.

MoHRE explained that this tactic, known as “vishing” (voice phishing), targets sensitive data such as residency and passport details, bank account numbers and one-time transaction codes. The warning covers residents and employers dealing with MoHRE and other authorities responsible for visas, residency and labour affairs.

The ministry advised the public not to share any information over the phone with unknown callers. It also asked people to report suspicious activity immediately via the MoHRE Contact Centre at 600590000 or by email at ask@mohre.gov.ae
