Sharjah establishes communication technologies free zone

Sharjah's Ruler, His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, has issued a decree to establish the Sharjah Communication Technologies Free Zone (COMTECH) in Kalba. This new free zone aims to elevate Sharjah’s global standing in communication technology.
The decree grants COMTECH financial and administrative independence, reporting to the emirate’s Communications Technologies Authority. The zone will support technological transformation, artificial intelligence and future technologies, aiming to attract international professionals and develop national talent.
COMTECH will formulate and implement legislation, policies and strategic plans in line with international standards and UAE commitments. It will grant licenses for marine-land cable extensions and establish data centres.
