Dubai launches mental health hotline, calls on specialists to volunteer
text_fieldsDubai authorities have appealed to medical and mental health professionals to volunteer their services as missile and drone attacks linked to Iran continue.
The Community Development Authority (CDA), in coordination with Dubai Health and the Dubai Health Authority, has launched a dedicated support line to assist residents experiencing stress or anxiety during the ongoing regional crisis.
The Dubai Community Mental Health Support Hotline, available on 800 506, offers free and confidential psychological first aid. Callers are connected to licensed specialists who provide immediate emotional support and where necessary, referrals for further care. The service operates under the Itma’en mental well-being programme.
Under the initiative, volunteers will respond to calls, assess needs and guide individuals to appropriate support services. Eligible participants include licensed professionals in medicine, nursing, psychology and social work, as well as students and trainees working under supervision. Authorities said volunteers must complete required training and follow established protocols.
Registration is open through the Dubai Now app.
The move comes amid sustained regional instability, with Gulf states facing repeated aerial threats.
In Abu Dhabi, the Department of Health has also introduced a round-the-clock mental health hotline in partnership with the Sakina platform. Residents can access confidential support by calling 800 725 462.
