Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi engages in official talks with Brazilian President to strengthen bilateral ties

During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed developments in their ties across key sectors, including economy, investment, renewable energy and sustainability. Both sides underscored their shared commitment to expanding cooperation to support sustainable development in their respective countries. His Highness conveyed greetings from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and extended his wishes for progress and prosperity to the Brazilian people. President Lula da Silva reciprocated with greetings and wishes for the UAE’s continued success and growth.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed during the meeting to establish a joint mechanism for promoting UAE investments in Brazil's strategic sectors. This agreement was formalized by Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, UAE Minister of Investment and Rui Costa, Presidency Chief of Staff of Brazil. Additionally, the UAE and Brazil signed an agreement to enhance cooperation in Africa, with Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Mauro Vieira, Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs, representing their respective nations.
The talks also highlighted the signing of a customs cooperation agreement between Abu Dhabi Customs and Brazil's Tax Authority, aimed at streamlining trade procedures through a newly launched digital trade corridor. Both parties commended these initiatives as steps toward strengthening economic collaboration.
The President of Brazil expressed appreciation for the UAE's initiatives in Brazil, including the planting of 10,000 palm trees in Bahia in cooperation with Al Foah Company, a project designed to share agricultural expertise. He also acknowledged the UAE’s support for Brazil’s G20 initiatives, particularly the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty and efforts to protect tropical rainforests.
H.H. Sheikh Khaled reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to deepening ties with Brazil across all sectors and fostering partnerships that benefit both nations. The Crown Prince will lead the UAE delegation to the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro on November 18-19, 2024, following an invitation extended by President Lula da Silva to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to attend the summit. The discussions concluded with a mutual emphasis on advancing regional and global stability through their strategic partnership.
