Abu Dhabi Chamber introduces new programme to assess business sustainability
text_fieldsAbu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry introduced a new Sustainability Label Programme, described as the emirate’s first structured system to help companies measure and improve sustainability performance. The initiative is designed to align with Abu Dhabi’s economic priorities and respond to rising global expectations around responsible operations, disclosure and access to sustainable finance.
The program assigns companies to one of four maturity tiers, Diamond, Gold, Silver or Bronze, based on an assessment covering governance, environmental action and long-term planning. Participating firms will receive workshops with specialists, a scorecard, a tailored action report, advisory sessions and capability training delivered with local financial institutions.
The Chamber said the initiative is intended to support Abu Dhabi’s private sector by strengthening preparedness for international markets and investor requirements. Second Vice Chairman and Managing Director Shamis Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri said the framework is meant to help businesses build credibility and compete for new opportunities.
Toolkits offered through the programme include Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions calculators and guidance for reporting. Selected companies from the first cohort are expected to be recognised during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
Director-General Ali Mohamed Al Marzooqi said the effort aims to improve long-term growth prospects and access to finance for firms across the emirate. Participation in the initial cohort is provided at no cost to Chamber members.
