Riyadh: The final stage of the Etr El-Kalam (Perfume of Kalam) competition, featuring Quran recitation and Azan, is set to start on April 2 and to be aired on the Saudia TV channel, Arab News reported.

The General Entertainment Authority of Saudi, which organizes the programme, informed that 40,000 people have applied for it from around the globe, and 36 were selected.

The competition, which offers 12 million Saudi riyals as price money, started its early stages in 2019.

The most beautiful recital of the Quran will get 5 million Saudi riyals, the second price 2 million, the third 1 million and the fourth 5 lakh. The prizes for Azan are 2 million Saudi riyals for the one becomes first, 1 million for the second, 5 lakh for third and 2.5 lakh for fourth.

The renowned Quran reciter Fawaz Al-Kaabi said that the competitors would be evaluated on their intonations, letter exits, endowment and beginnings etc. He said that the competition would break the barrier of fear and dread in a person. This would help the candidate to speak, read and express with improved fluency over time, he said.

The judges, including muezzins from the Two Holy Mosques, in the even are specialized in competitions featuring Quran. The judges also include frontline Quran reciters worldwide.
