Saudi Space Agency launches space mission design center
text_fieldsThe Saudi Space Agency has launched the Space Mission Design Center (CDF) to strengthen Saudi Arabia's position in space research. The launch event was attended by CEO Dr. Mohammed Altamimi, Deputy CEO Dr. Valanathan Munsami and representatives from local and international organizations.
The CDF will use concurrent engineering principles and advanced analysis and simulation techniques to support the planning and execution of space missions. This approach is expected to reduce the time needed for feasibility studies by up to 75% and cut design costs for space systems by up to 50%.
The agency has adopted the Integrated Mission Lifecycle (IML) methodology to improve operational efficiency, provide a standard framework and coordinate activities, positioning the agency as a leader in managing complex engineering projects.
The Saudi Space Agency aims to enhance partnerships with regional and international players to support space activities, promote the space economy and encourage interest in space missions, contributing to sustainable development.
