Riyadh: The "Decent Housing" project concluded today. The project was a tripartite partnership between the Saudi Program for the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY), Alwaleed Philanthropies and the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) aiming to improve the living conditions of families in Yemen's Aden Governorate.

A ceremony was held on this occasion at SDRPY headquarters in Riyadh. It was attended by Alwaleed Philanthropies secretary-general Princess Lamia bint Majed Al Saud, supervisor-general of the program Ambassador Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber and Minister of Public Works and Roads Eng. Salem Al Abboudi. Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Waed Badhib, United Nations Human Settlements Program Chief of Staff Dr. Irfaan Ali and United Nations Human Settlements Program Regional Representative Rania Headeya also participated via video link.

This project is the first of its kind in Yemen's housing sector and aims to provide suitable living conditions for Yemeni families. It benefited more than 4,500 individuals representing 900 families by rehabilitating 650 housing units in Aden Governorate's Al-Mualla and Khor Maksar districts to create a better urban future.

The project contributed to building the capacity of personnel in the housing, construction and building sectors. It also provided thousands of job opportunities and hundreds of training opportunities, deepening the impact of such projects that contribute to sustainable development.

SDRPY has implemented development projects and initiatives in essential sectors, including education, health, water, energy, transportation, agriculture and fisheries, development and support of the Yemeni government's capabilities across 14 Yemeni governorates.
