Riyadh witnessed a high-profile meeting on Monday as Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman welcomed British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to Al-Yamamah Palace. According to the Saudi Press Agency, the leaders engaged in discussions, marking a key moment in Starmer’s state visit to the region.

Earlier that day, the British Prime Minister had a conversation with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, during which they “shared their perspectives on the evolving situation in Syria,” as noted by Starmer’s office. This dialogue showing the growing importance of collaboration on regional issues between the UK and Gulf states.

As part of his visit to the UAE, Starmer also toured the iconic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, a gesture highlighting the cultural and diplomatic significance of his trip.

This visit to the Gulf marks Starmer’s first since assuming office earlier this year. Following his time in Riyadh, the Prime Minister is scheduled to travel to Cyprus, continuing his diplomatic engagements in the region.
