Quran burning: Saudi Arabia hands over protest note to Denmark's charge d'affaires

Riyadh: In response to a disturbing incident of Quran burning and anti-Islamic sentiments displayed in front of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Copenhagen, Denmark, several Middle Eastern nations have expressed their outrage by summoning Swedish and Danish diplomats.

The incident, orchestrated by an extremist group in Denmark, has ignited tensions and raised concerns over the escalation of interreligious hatred.

Condemning the incident, Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry summoned Denmark's charge d'affaires to the Kingdom and delivered a protest note. The ministry emphasized that such acts not only violate religious teachings but also international laws and norms. They expressed their absolute rejection of any behaviour that promotes interreligious hatred and urged Denmark to take necessary measures to prevent such incidents from recurring.

The incident that sparked the diplomatic protest involved the burning of a copy of the Holy Quran, along with the display of hate-filled slogans against Islam and Muslims.
