Riyadh: King Salman has ordered a road in Riyadh to be named after the late poet Prince Badr bin Abdul Mohsen, following a recommendation from Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. This decision honours the poet's significant contributions to Saudi and Arabic literature.

The road is situated west of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University and is bordered by King Salman Road to the north and Al-Thumamah Road to the south.

Prince Badr, a national icon, passed away in May at age 75 in Paris after an illness.

Prince Badr played a crucial role in popularizing Saudi poetry among Arab audiences, with his verses featured in songs by prominent Arab artists such as Talal Maddah, Mohammed Abdu, Kadim Al-Sahir and Assala. His patriotic works resonated deeply with Saudis, strengthening his bond with the nation.

This naming directive reflects the leadership's appreciation of Prince Badr's lasting impact on literature and culture.
