Indian Embassy in Riyadh hosts reception for diplomats, expatriate representatives

Riyadh: The Embassy of India hosted a reception to celebrate the 75th Republic Day of India at the Cultural Palace in the Diplomatic Quarter on 28 January 2024. H.E. D. Faisal Al-Sudairi, Undersecretary for Riyadh region was the chief guest for the event.

Indian Embassy officials invited members from the diplomatic community in Riyadh. The members of the Indian diaspora attended the event.

During his official remarks, Ambassador Dr Suhel Ajaz Khan spoke about India’s goal of transformation towards a developed nation by the year 2047 and our pursuit towards ‘Amrit Kaal’.

Ambassador also touched upon India’s progress in the economic, Science & Technology, and social fronts. Ambassador Dr Suhel Ajaz Khan gave an overview of the growing nature of India-Saudi Arabia bilateral relations in all spheres. A documentary on India- Saudi Arabia bilateral relations was also screened.

To showcase India’s rich diversity and culture, Garbha Dance, Yakshagana, and Odissi dance were performed by students of International Indian School Riyadh, International Indian School Jubail, Modern Middle East International School, and DOM International School in Riyadh. Exhibitions on Indian textiles, spices, and jewellery were also showcased.

Bilateral ties between India and Saudi Arabia have been growing from strength to strength. Both India and Saudi Arabia are strategic partners and have strong commercial ties, with more than USD 52 billion in trade.

The multifaceted partnership has seen an upswing in sectors such as defence, investment, and culture.

The year 2023 also saw the first Leaders Meeting of Strategic Partnership Council co-chaired by HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modi, apart from numerous ministerial visits and high-level engagements on both sides.
