Embassy of India Celebrated International Day of Yoga

Riyadh: As part of the 9th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2023 celebrations under the theme “Yoga for Vasudaiva Kutumbakam” and as part of the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, Embassy of India in Riyadh celebrated International Day of Yoga 2023 at Al Madi Park in Riyadh on 21 June 2023.

Indian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan in his welcome address spoke about the need for adopting Yoga as part of daily life and the health benefits of Yoga. He also spoke about the “Yoga from Arctic to Antarctic” and “Ocean Ring of Yoga”, two new initiative by Government of India as part of the ongoing IDY 2023 celebrations across the globe.


Padma Shri awardee Guruji Dr. H.R. Nagendra, Hon’ble Chancellor, Svyasa University was the chief guest for the event. Dr. Manjunath Sharma, Hon’ble Pro Vice-Chancellor & Director, Research Svyasa University was also graced the occasion with his presence.

The Yoga demonstration started with Yoga prayer followed by performing Common Yoga Protocol. It was followedby Pranayamam and Meditation exercises. Students from Vaidehi Nirtha Vidyalaya and Chilanka Dance Academy performed Yoga themed dance performances.


The event witnessed the participation of Indian Embassy officials with their families, Indian community members, school students and teachers from various schools in Saudi Arabia, Saudi nationals, and other invited nationalities.

Indian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan and Deputy Chief of Mission Shri. N. Ram Prasad distributed mementos to sponsors, dance groups, Yoga practitioners, and Medical support team.
