Oman, Iran discuss navigation security in Strait of Hormuz

Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi said he held talks with Iran’s Foreign Minister Dr Abbas Araghchi on issues related to the Strait of Hormuz.

In a post on X, Sayyid Badr described the discussions as constructive and said both sides addressed the responsibility of coastal states to protect international navigation in the waterway.

He said there is a shared duty among countries bordering the strait to ensure safe passage through one of the world’s key maritime routes.

Sayyid Badr also raised the situation of seafarers held for long periods, calling it an urgent humanitarian issue.

He said continued diplomatic engagement and practical steps are needed to secure their release and maintain freedom of navigation in the corridor.
