Kuwait enters peak summer heatwave with temperatures reaching 52°C

Kuwait has entered its most intense summer phase on Tuesday, with forecasters warning temperatures to reach 52°C in parts of the country over the next 13 days, Al Seyassah reported.
The country’s Meteorological Centre and the Al Ojairi Scientific Centre said the extreme heat marks the arrival of the “Jamrat Al Qayz” or “Al Mirzam” phase, which is considered the peak of summer across the Arabian Peninsula. This seasonal period, named after the bright star Sirius, will continue until August 10.
The centres explained that the Al Mirzam phase precedes “Al Kulaibin,” known for its intense humidity and eventually “Suhail,” when temperatures begin to ease. The period also coincides with the start of date palm harvesting, a traditional indicator of the region’s deep summer.
Residents have been urged to take precautions against the searing heat and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during this period.
