His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and French President Emmanuel Macron attended a signing ceremony at the Elysee Palace on Monday, marking a new chapter in Kuwait-France relations.

Two declarations of intent were signed between the two countries. The first establishes a Strategic Investment Partnership for the period 2025 to 2035. The second agreement aims to enhance cultural cooperation and commemorate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2026.

The documents were signed by Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya and French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot.

Earlier in the day, President Macron officially welcomed His Highness the Amir at the Elysee Palace, where he greeted the Amir’s accompanying delegation alongside senior French officials.

The two leaders held formal talks, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in key sectors. They also exchanged views on regional and international developments.

As part of his official visit, His Highness the Amir also attended France’s Bastille Day military parade in Paris. The event, which commemorates the country’s National Day, was held in the presence of President Macron and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

Later in the day, President Macron hosted a lunch banquet in honor of His Highness the Amir and his accompanying delegation at the Elysee Palace.
