The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council has reaffirmed its support for Kuwait following discussions on attacks targeting Kuwait International Airport and civil aviation infrastructure.

Kuwait’s Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) said the issue was discussed during the 238th session of the ICAO Council after the authority’s chairman, Sheikh Engineer Humoud Mubarak Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, attended the meeting at the invitation of the council president.

According to PACA, the council reviewed a working paper submitted by Iran concerning attacks on neighbouring countries, while Kuwait’s protest letter was also circulated among participants.

The Kuwaiti submission detailed what it described as repeated attacks on Kuwait International Airport, civil facilities and infrastructure linked to aviation operations.

The meeting brought together 93 representatives from ICAO member states and council members.

During the session, the Kuwaiti delegation expressed appreciation for the support shown by ICAO, council members and the Arab Group.

PACA said the backing reflected a shared international commitment to protecting civil aviation, airport infrastructure and the safety of civilian facilities.
