Covid19: PCR tests mandatory for travellers from India to Bahrain

Bahrain has updated precautionary measures for incoming travellers from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, starting from Tuesday, April 27.

All travellers transiting or arriving from the aforementioned countries into Bahrain must present a negative Covid PCR certificate with the QR code taken within 48 hours of departure from the three countries. Upon entry, all travellers are required to undergo a series of PCR tests costing 36 Dinars, bearing themselves.

The Bahraini National Medical Taskforce for Combating Covid-19 has advised taking three PCR tests, in which the first test is conducted on arrival and the second five days later, and the final one on the 10th day of arrival in the Kingdom, state-run BNA stated.

Passengers must download the BeAware app and self-quarantine until the result of the three tests show negative. The Health Authority will further instruct in case an individual is tested positive.

Currently, travel permits are only granted to two GCC states, Bahrain and Qatar, from India, with the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Kuwait suspending travel from the country.

As of Monday, India reported 352,991 new Covid cases setting a global record for a rise in daily coronavirus cases for a fifth consecutive day, making the total cases up to 17 million.
