Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, together with two ministers and officials, on Saturday, called upon Governor RN Ravi and urged him to forward the Bill seeking exemption from NEET to President Ram Nath Kovind for assent.

In September, the TN Assembly had passed the Bill seeking exemption from the medical entrance exam. Instead, admissions to medical colleges shall be based on Plus-2 marks scored by students. The Assembly passed the Tamil Nadu Admission to Undergraduate Medical Degree Courses Act-2021 by voice note. This is the second time a bill for the purpose is being passed in the Assembly. Earlier AIADMK regime had passed a similar bill. However, it did not get the President's assent then.
