Palakkad: A 27-year old RSS worker was hacked to death by the roadside in broad daylight on Monday morning in Kerala's Palakkad. The police suspect politically-motivated killing. The deceased has been identified as S Sanjith, a native of Elappully, and the murder occurred in the Mambarath area of Palakkad at approximately 9 AM.

Sanjith was on his way to work when he was waylaid by a gang of men on bikes, reports in the media have claimed. The men then attacked him and hacked him to death in front of his wife, who was accompanying him. They then fled from the scene. The Bharatiya Janatha Party district president K.M Haridas has come out to accuse the SDPI outfit of masterminding the crime, as previous conflicts in Palakkad have resulted in attacks upon BJP and SDPI members.

In July, SDPI Malampuzha regional secretary Zakir Hussain was attacked and severely injured by suspected RSS workers.

Sanjith's body has been placed in the Palakkad district hospital mortuary. Police reports allege that he suffered more than fifty stab wounds. Tension has gripped the district even as security officials have begun a thorough investigation into the culprits.
