One dead, five injured in lightning strikes in Kozhikode

Kozhikode: One person was killed and five others were injured in two separate lightning strike incidents in Kozhikode district on Sunday, officials said.
According to police, one person died and another sustained injuries after a lightning strike hit Koombara in Koodaranji. The deceased was identified as Jaison, who was working at a poultry farm in Mundumala, Koombara, when he was struck by lightning. The injured person from the same incident was rushed to a nearby hospital.
In a separate incident, four others were injured in a lightning strike at Nerukumchal in Thamarassery. Officials said the injured were women and have been shifted to hospital, where their condition is stated to be stable.
The high-range areas of Kozhikode district experienced heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning on Sunday evening, officials added.
Notably, last week four youngsters were killed and three others injured in a similar lightning strike incident at Mankada in Malappuram district.
